Job summary

Shadbolt Group seeks experienced Special Class Welders (structural welding) for a major shipbuilding program in Australia. Join a team in a workshop environment with permanent and casual opportunities, overtime, and long-term project security.

Requirements include Australian citizenship or permanent residency, safety focus, and proven ability in precision fabrication, interpreting drawings, and MIG weld tests in all positions. Shipbuilding experience and ship standards welding are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Safety-focused, reliable.
• Experience in precision fabrication, assembly, and installing structural steel components.
• Experience interpreting structural drawings.
• Ability to pass MIG fillet weld tests in all positions.
• Demonstrated experience in ship or boat building preferred.
• Skilled in welding to shipbuilding class standards preferred.
• Experience in welding multiple positions using various weld consumables preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding per shipbuilding standards.
• Read and interpret structural drawings.
• Operate MIG welding equipment and tests.
• Contribute to major shipbuilding program in defence sector.
