Job summary

Kraft Heinz Northgate is seeking an experienced Shift Maintenance Fitter to keep our processing and packaging assets running safely and efficiently on a 12-hour rotating roster (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off). This hands-on role focuses on breakdown response, preventative/predictive maintenance, and strong CMMS discipline in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

You’ll diagnose faults, perform repairs, and support maintenance planning while adhering to safety, quality, and process standards, with on-site

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified mechanical fitter with strong fault-finding skills.
• Experience in FMCG manufacturing and packaging environments.
• Root-cause analysis and continuous improvement experience.
• Proficient with CMMS and basic computer tools.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and perform breakdown repairs to minimise downtime.
• Conduct preventative and predictive maintenance activities.
• Maintain and repair packaging/process equipment (fillers, wrappers, packers, conveyors).
• Use Mainpac CMMS to plan/update work orders and document actions.
• Contribute to job scope, materials, sequencing, and labour planning.
• Drive Continuous Improvement through KHMS and root-cause investigations.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and comply with safety and HR policies.

The Role:

Kraft Heinz at Northgate is seeking experienced Shift Maintenance Fitters to keep our processing and packaging assets running safely, reliably, and efficiently. This is a hands-on, autonomous role focused on breakdown response, preventative/predictive maintenance, and strong CMMS discipline.

Location: Northgate

Shift: 12-hour rotating roster (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off)

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose faults and complete breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and micro-stops across production equipment
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance (inspections, condition monitoring, follow-up actions) to improve reliability
• Maintain and repair key packaging/process equipment (e.g., fillers, flow wrappers, carton packers, palletisers, conveyor systems)
• Use Mainpac CMMS to plan/update work orders, accurately capture parts usage, and document findings and actions
• Support maintenance planning by contributing to job scope, materials, sequencing, and labour requirements
• Drive continuous improvement through KHMS, 5-Why, and root cause investigations
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and comply with Kraft Heinz Food Safety, EHS, ethical and HR policies

Your Skills & Experience:

• A recognised Mechanical trade qualification
• Additional technical upskilling modules highly desirable
• Extensive FMCG (food & beverage processing / packaging) experience
• Skills that experience with Root Cause analysis and Continuous improvement highly desirable
• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and collaborate across Maintenance/Production/Engineering/Quality/Safety
• Computer confidence (Microsoft tools + CMMS)
• Current Work at Heights and EWPA Yellow Card (under 11m)
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and equipment reliability
• Welding capability across aluminium/steel/stainless (MAW and TIG)
• Predictive maintenance exposure (e.g., vibration, infrared thermography, ultrasonic analysis, oil/wear particle interpretation)
• Experience with inductive/ultrasonic sealing and precision jaw alignment (ideal)
• Eligibility to work in Australia
