Job summary

Pacific Energy in Perth, WA is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Fabricator to join our manufacturing team in Kewdale, fabricating aluminium and steel enclosures, frames and skids for renewable power systems across Australia.

Based in our modern facility, you’ll work with a skilled team, perform MIG/TIG welding, read technical drawings, and operate CNC laser cutting and press brakes. This role offers a stable Monday-to-Friday roster and opportunities for career development and progression.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or equivalent required.
• Experience in sheet metal fabrication and reading technical drawings.
• MIG welding experience essential; TIG welding desirable; CNC laser and press brake experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble aluminium and steel enclosures, frames, and skids per drawings and specifications.
• Perform MIG and TIG welding and general fabrication to high quality standards.
• Operate CNC laser cutting equipment to produce components with required tolerances; operate press brakes.
• Mentor apprentices and junior team members; maintain safety and quality in the workshop.

The Role

As a Sheet Metal Fabricator, you’ll be responsible for fabricating and assembling the aluminium and steel enclosures, frames and skids that underpin Pacific Energy’s industry‑leading renewable power systems. Based in our purpose‑built Kewdale facility, you’ll work with a skilled team to manufacture high‑quality equipment used in solar, battery energy storage, hybrid power and thermal energy projects across Australia. This is an excellent opportunity for a tradesperson who takes pride in precision workmanship and wants to see their work contribute to Australia’s clean energy future.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble aluminium and steel enclosures, frames, skids, structural components, pressure vessels, tanks, and stainless steel and carbon steel gas piping systems in accordance with technical drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Review drawings and provide mark‑ups where required
• Perform MIG and TIG welding, fitting and general fabrication activities to achieve high‑quality workmanship and dimensional accuracy.
• Operate CNC laser cutting equipment to produce components to required tolerances and quality standards.
• Operate press brakes and associated forming equipment to bend and shape materials in accordance with engineering drawings.
• Mentor apprentices and junior team members.
• Maintain a strong commitment to safety and comply with all HSE policies and procedures.

Skills & Experience

• Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Sheet Metal Working) or Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking/Welding).
• Previous sheet metal fabrication experience.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• MIG welding experience is essential, with TIG welding experience highly regarded.
• CNC Laser and Press Brake Operation Experience preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Forklift licence advantageous.
• Dogging and rigging qualifications advantageous.
