Job summary

Lider Air Pty Ltd is hiring an Air Conditioning & Duct Work Installer – Sheetmetal Trades Worker in Sydney. The role covers fabricating, assembling and installing sheet metal ductwork for commercial HVAC projects, interpreting drawings, and ensuring accurate measurements and safe installation.

The successful candidate will have relevant trade qualifications and at least one year of ductwork experience, with strong teamwork and safety awareness.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in sheet metal fabrication or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in sheet metal and ductwork installation.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and layouts.
• White Card and site safety familiarity.
• Based in Sydney with site work across commercial/industrial projects.

Responsibilities

• Study and interpret blueprints, ductwork layouts and specifications to determine materials and installation requirements.
• Measure, mark and set out sheet metal components and check gauges against drawings.
• Fit and assemble sheet metal components using screws, rivets and other joining methods.
• Install ductwork, supports and associated sheet metal components on site.
• Inspect installations against drawings and project requirements; report defects.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Air Conditioning & Duct Work Installer – Sheetmetal Trades Worker is responsible for the assembly and installation of sheet metal ductwork and associated components for air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems.

The position involves interpreting technical drawings and specifications, measuring and preparing sheet metal, fabricating ductwork components and installing completed ductwork and sheet metal products on construction and commercial sites.

LOCATION

The position will be based at Sydney CBD, with work also undertaken at various commercial, industrial and construction sites as required by the business.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• Relevant trade qualification such as Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Sheet Metal), Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade, relevant Australian equivalent overseas qualification or apprenticeship.
• At least one year of relevant experience in sheet metal and ductwork installation, or a closely related trade.
• Strong understanding of mechanical services installation practices.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, plans, specifications and ductwork layouts.
• Good attention to measurements, dimensions, tolerances and workmanship.
• Ability to accurately measure, mark out, cut, shape, form and assemble sheet metal components.
• Experience working on commercial construction sites.
• Ability to work safely on construction and commercial sites and follow workplace health and safety procedures.
• Positive attitude with strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Relevant White Card and site-specific safety requirements where applicable.

TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Study and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, ductwork layouts, specifications and job requirements to determine materials, dimensions and installation requirements.
• Select appropriate sheet metal materials and check gauges, dimensions and quantities against drawings and specifications.
• Measure, mark and set out sheet metal using templates, gauges, rulers, levels and other measuring instruments.
• Fit and assemble sheet metal components using appropriate joining methods including screws, rivets, cleats, sealants and other approved mechanical joining systems.
• Assemble and prepare fabricated ductwork and sheet metal components for transportation and installation.
• Install ductwork supports, brackets, hangers and associated sheet metal components as required.
• Modify, adjust or repair sheet metal ductwork and components where required to achieve correct fit and installation.
• Installing sheet metal ductwork, flexible ductwork, A/C units, fans, grilles and mechanical systems.
• Assisting with site measurements and installation planning.
• Check completed ductwork installations against drawings, specifications and project requirements.
• Identify and report defects, incorrect dimensions, damaged components or installation issues to the Site Manager or Project Manager.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a clean, safe and serviceable condition.
• Follow all applicable workplace health and safety, site safety and environmental procedures.
• Maintaining high safety standards and adhering to company WH&S policies.
