Position Classification: Counsellor Level 3, Psychologist, Sexual Assault Worker Level 3, Social Worker Level 3

Remuneration: Dependent on Qualifications

  • Counsellor, Sexual Assault Worker & Social Worker Level 3 – $112,396.00 - $116,038.00 per annum

  • Psychologist - $77,358.00 - $113,226.00 per annum

Location: Blacktown - Community Health Centre

Location details: Join the Integrated Violence Prevention & Response Service (IVPRS) at Blacktown Community Health Centre, part of Western Sydney Local Health District. IVPRS leads trauma-informed care, supporting individuals and families affected by sexual assault, domestic violence and child protection concerns.

What you'll be doing

As a Sexual Assault Counsellor, you’ll provide specialist therapeutic support and case management to children, young people and adults impacted by sexual assault. You’ll also support non-offending family members and collaborate with other services to ensure integrated, trauma-informed care.

  • Deliver counselling, assessment and advocacy services tailored to individual needs

  • Participate in a 24-hour on-call roster for recent sexual assault cases

  • Facilitate access to forensic and medical services when required

  • Collaborate across domestic violence and child protection portfolios for holistic care

  • Support capacity building through training, consultation and interagency partnerships

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling

  • Registration: Eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership.

Selection Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor’s degree) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Graduate Certificate in Human & Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma) and eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership.

  • Demonstrated counselling experience in complex trauma and trauma informed practice within a Violence, Abuse & Neglect setting (e.g. sexual assault, child protection or domestic violence services).

  • Demonstrated assessment, case management and counselling skills with children, young people and adults.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the inter-related dynamics and effects of sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect and domestic violence and a commitment to integrated models for working with clients who have experienced trauma and abuse.

  • Demonstrated understanding of intergenerational trauma and the principles of cultural safety, with experience in (or commitment to) providing culturally responsive services to individuals and families.

  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated capacity to work with in collaboration and partnership with a wide range of key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the legal systems, legislation and policies & procedures relating to violence, abuse and neglect.

  • Current NSW Driver’s License
