Job summary

Wathaurong Aboriginal Co. Geelong invites applications for a Social & Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Worker at the MMHC.

This special measures role focuses on trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care for Aboriginal community members, with culturally safe practice at its core. You will assess needs, provide direct support for complex cases, and collaborate with health teams and external agencies to develop effective referrals while empowering community resilience and independence.

Qualifications

• Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander status is required under special measures.

Responsibilities

• Assess aboriginal people’s needs in alignment with the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Framework.
• Provide assessment and direct support to Aboriginal people with complex needs.
• Encourage and raise awareness within the Aboriginal community on how to take positive action to deal with mental health and alcohol and other drugs issues.
• Collaborate with Health Service teams, other Wathaurong programs and external agencies to develop effective referral strategies.
• Emphasise community members’ strengths, resilience, and independence while respecting choices.
