Job summary

The University of Newcastle is seeking a ServiceNow Developer to design and deliver scalable solutions across a modern tech stack, including AWS/Azure, Mulesoft, Jira/Confluence, and ServiceNow. You will work with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into robust, secure, and maintainable platform features.

You will contribute to DevOps-driven delivery, participate in agile ceremonies, and help maintain platform health while enabling secure coding practices.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in software development roles.
  • Hands-on development on the ServiceNow platform with a track record of delivering scalable and maintainable solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience diagnosing and resolving issues within the ServiceNow platform.
  • Ability to follow development standards and DevOps practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • ServiceNow certifications like System Administrator, Application Developer and/or ITSM/HRSD/CSM specialist certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Build scalable, reusable ServiceNow solutions including scripting, configuration, integrations, and customisations.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand needs, refine scope and manage expectations.
  • Work closely with business analysts, solution architects, and service designers to translate requirements into prototypes and final solutions.
  • Ensure code / build quality and follow development standards.
  • Follow DevOps practices to boost efficiency and productivity.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshoot issues and implement bug fixes.
  • Ensure platform health through regular maintenance, upgrades, and secure coding practices.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to agile delivery practices.
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

What we’re looking for

This full-time position is fixed term until October 2027 at a HEW 6 Higher Education Level located in the Digital Technology Solutions department at Callaghan Campus.
