The Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN) provides hospital and community services supporting women, babies, children and young people across South Australia.
WCHN is making an additional investment in work health and safety, creating new roles to strengthen its team and support workforce safety and wellbeing. This is an opportunity to join the team as it comes together and help shape practical improvements across hospital and community services.
Harrison McMillan is partnering with WCHN to recruit an AS06 Senior Work Health and Safety Consultant on a full time, 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension.
Reporting to the WHS Team Leader, you will provide practical advice and lead WHS initiatives across an assigned portfolio. You will work alongside managers, clinical teams and health and safety representatives to understand their challenges, investigate incidents and develop solutions that make everyday work safer.
Joining as the team comes together gives you the opportunity to contribute ideas, share your clinical perspective and help shape how the service supports staff. Your work will span risk assessments, investigations, education and local prevention programs, with scope to see improvements through from identifying an issue to putting effective controls in place.
You bring a clinical background and a strong commitment to keeping people safe at work. You understand the pressures of healthcare and want to use that insight to protect the people delivering care.
You take an interest in how work happens, listen to staff and ask questions that help uncover risks. You are motivated to understand why incidents occur and what can be done to prevent them happening again.
Approachable and practical, you build trust through clear advice and follow-through. You can work through difficult issues with managers, explain what needs to change and help teams find workable solutions.
You will enjoy contributing to a team building its approach together, sharing your knowledge and learning from others. You bring initiative, sound judgement and the WHS experience to turn your commitment into action.
No formal qualification is essential. Relevant qualifications in WHS, health, psychology, behavioural science or allied health, along with ICAM investigation and WHS education experience, will be highly regarded.
Compassion, Respect, Equity, Accountability and Together for Excellence guide WCHN’s work. In this team, those values mean listening to concerns, sharing knowledge, offering solutions and taking responsibility for improvements.
You will help build a WHS service where staff feel comfortable seeking advice and confident their concerns will be heard. It is an opportunity to contribute to workforce wellbeing while supporting the services women, children and families rely on.
