Why Squadron?

So, what does it mean to work at Squadron? “Bring real Squadron Energy” — meaning we show up with purpose, we back each other, and we do the right thing while delivering outcomes with safety front of mind, always.

What you’ll experience:

We’re united in purpose

We stand for what’s right

We deliver safe and purposeful work that makes a positive difference. Quality and excellence underpin what we do, and we strive to work sustainably for the communities we operate in.

We boldly lead

We’re courageously innovative — we take action, try new things, learn from mistakes, and find better ways to create value. We encourage everyone to learn and grow.

The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Senior WHS Advisor to support a major renewable energy construction project. This opportunity is open to both local and FIFO candidates on a 2/1 Roster.

Reporting to the Corporate Health & Safety Manager – Construction & Operations, you will work closely with project delivery teams and Principal Contractors to support the effective management of health and safety risks across multiple construction work fronts.

This is a practical, field‑based role suited to a confident and adaptable safety professional who understands the demands of major construction projects and can balance site engagement, contractor assurance and competing operational priorities.

You will be comfortable working autonomously, building credible relationships with stakeholders and constructively challenging safety performance where required. We are looking for someone who can quickly understand the project environment, identify emerging risks and make a meaningful contribution from day one.

Key responsibilities
  • Maintain a strong field presence across construction work fronts, engaging directly with workers, supervisors, contractor representatives and project delivery teams.

  • Provide client‑side WHS oversight and assurance, monitoring Principal Contractor performance and the effective implementation of safety management systems.

  • Support the identification, assessment and management of critical risks associated with high‑risk construction activities.

  • Conduct site inspections, field verifications and assurance activities, following up on findings to ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.

  • Influence positive safety behaviours and strengthen risk ownership and accountability across contractor and internal teams.

  • Participate in incident investigations, contribute to root cause analysis and support the implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions.

  • Provide practical WHS advice to project personnel, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, project requirements and company standards.

  • Identify emerging risks, escalated significant safety concerns and provide clear, timely reporting to management.

  • Support the implementation of WHS initiatives that improve safety performance and strengthen the effectiveness of project delivery.

About you

You are an experienced construction safety professional with a practical, solutions-focused approach and the confidence to operate effectively in a fast‑paced project environment.

You will bring:

  • Approximately 5+ years of field‑based construction WHS experience, ideally within renewable energy, infrastructure or major projects.

  • Client‑side experience, working with Principal Contractors and project delivery teams in a construction environment.

  • Demonstrated experience working across multiple construction work fronts and managing changing priorities.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate and constructively challenge where necessary.

  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to work autonomously, exercise sound judgement and add value from day one.

  • Practical experience in contractor assurance, site inspections, critical risk management and the verification of safety controls.

  • A Diploma in Work Health and Safety, or equivalent qualification.

  • An ICAM or equivalent incident investigation qualification, or demonstrated experience conducting effective incident investigations.

  • Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation and its practical application to construction and high‑risk work.

  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications.

  • A willingness to work on site, with both local and FIFO candidates considered.
