The City of Greater Geelong is seeking a strategic leader to manage Geelong’s urban forest, overseeing care of about 190,000 trees and a 28‑strong team. You will drive a whole‑of‑life asset management approach and advance the Tree City of the World status.

You will build annual business plans, monitor performance with data, and lead stakeholder engagement to deliver sustainable urban tree outcomes. A tertiary arboriculture or horticulture qualification and strong leadership are required.

Formación

• Tertiary qualification in Arboriculture or Horticulture.
• Significant arboricultural experience.
• Proven leadership and people management skills.
• Strong business planning and budget management capabilities.
• Ability to drive innovation and deliver sustainable urban tree outcomes.

Responsabilidades

• Lead the management and ongoing development of Geelong’s urban forest and oversee the care of ~190,000 trees and a 28‑person team.
• Motivate the team to deliver on strategic goals and ensure operational success.
• Collaborate with leaders and teams across the organisation.
• Develop and deliver the unit’s annual Business Plans in line with Directorate strategy within financial/resource constraints.
• Monitor, report, and utilise accurate data to track performance and improvements.
• Foster a customer‑first culture and proactively address challenges in service delivery.
• Lead stakeholder consultation and engagement to promote Council’s Urban Forest strategy.
