Job summary

Surf Coast Shire Council in Victoria, Australia, is seeking a Turf Maintenance Supervisor to lead the Open Space Operations team, delivering sports field turf maintenance and irrigation programs for high-standard facilities used by the community.

You will work closely with staff, contractors and clubs to ensure efficient irrigation, proactive inspections and safe, high-quality grounds across the Surf Coast Shire.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Turf Management or equivalent or 5+ years’ related experience.
• Strong communication with staff, Councillors, customers and contractors.
• Supervisory experience across turf, irrigation and open space management.
• Experience maintaining irrigation systems (Rain Bird preferred).
• Local Government experience.
• Construction Induction Card / OH&S training.
• ChemCERT and ACUP certifications.
• Current Victorian driver’s licence.
• Working With Children Check.
• Permanent right to live and work in Australia.
• Police checks as required by Council.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate maintenance activities for sports turf and irrigation.
• Manage irrigation systems and ensure water efficiency.
• Undertake proactive inspections of open spaces.
• Support projects to enhance quality and sustainability of open spaces.
• Lead a turf maintenance team in a hands-on role.
