Job summary

The Department of Transport and Main Roads on the Sunshine Coast region seeks a lead transport modeller to head the regional traffic and transport modelling team. You will deliver high-quality planning analyses and mentor staff, guiding projects from concept through delivery within set timeframes.

You will implement advanced modelling techniques, engage stakeholders, and communicate complex results clearly. A degree in a relevant field is required, with a strong transport modelling background.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications at the degree level or higher in Transport Planning, Engineering, Town Planning, Statistics, GIS, Modelling, Mathematics or similar.
• Understanding of transport modelling processes and software packages is advantageous.
• Experience with transport modelling and data analysis is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the regional traffic and transport modelling team and deliver high-quality transport planning analysis.
• Lead the forward transport modelling program with priorities and deadlines.
• Manage multiple complex projects with governance and timeframes.
• Provide advice on modelling tools, methodologies, data analysis, GIS and statistics.
• Engage with stakeholders and translate needs into measurable outputs.
• Communicate complex information to non-technical audiences, in writing and orally.
• Maintain knowledge of strategies and global trends in transport planning and adopt contemporary methodologies.
• Collaborate with North Coast Region units to achieve stakeholder outcomes.
