Job summary

Georgiou Group, now part of STRABAG SE, is delivering the Cairns DRFA Stage 1 project to restore and improve critical transport infrastructure in Far North Queensland.

As Senior Traffic Engineer / Traffic Manager, you will lead traffic management across work fronts, develop plans, coordinate closures and liaise with authorities to ensure safe, efficient movement of road users and project personnel throughout construction.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Traffic Manager or Senior Traffic Engineer on major civil/road projects.
• Strong knowledge of Queensland TMR standards and traffic management requirements.
• Experience developing and implementing Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Guidance Schemes.
• Traffic Management Design Qualification or Training.

Responsibilities

• Lead all traffic management activities across the project.
• Coordinate road closures, lane restrictions and traffic staging requirements.
• Manage traffic control subcontractors and monitor site compliance.
• Conduct inspections, audits and safety reviews of traffic management operations.
• Liaise with Transport and Main Roads, local authorities and project stakeholders.
• Support community engagement and notifications relating to traffic impacts.
• Provide regular reporting on traffic management performance and compliance

Senior Traffic Engineer / Traffic Manager

Georgiou Group has partnered with Koppens Construction to deliver the Cairns Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) Stage 1 Project, supporting the restoration and resilience of critical transport infrastructure across Far North Queensland.

This project involves a diverse range of civil construction, rehabilitation and slope stabilisation works across multiple brownfield sites on one of Australia's most scenic highway corridors. As our Traffic Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of these works while maintaining access for the travelling public and local communities.

FIFO and accommodation options are available for candidates residing within South East Queensland.

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of traffic management outcomes on a complex and high-profile infrastructure project while working alongside an experienced and collaborative project team.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer / Traffic Manager to join our Cairns DRFA Stage 1 team. You'll play a critical role in planning, coordinating and delivering traffic management solutions across multiple work fronts, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of road users, local communities and project personnel throughout construction activities. The role requires close collaboration with project teams, subcontractors, Transport and Main Roads, and key stakeholders to support the successful delivery of this important infrastructure project.

Your Skills and Experience

• Experience as a Traffic Manager, Senior Traffic Engineer or similar role on major civil or road infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of Queensland TMR standards and traffic management requirements.
• Experience developing and implementing Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Guidance Schemes.
• Traffic Management Design qualification or TMR-approved Traffic Management Design Training.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced project environment.
• Current Driver's Licence and Construction White Card.
