Job summary

Downer is seeking an experienced Senior Town Planner to lead planning activities for wireless infrastructure projects across Australia. You will oversee outsourced partners, support internal planning teams and mentor Town Planners to ensure safe, efficient delivery and high-quality outcomes.

Reporting to the SAED Manager, you will manage development applications, engage with stakeholders and communities, and drive planning excellence across nationwide deployments.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or related discipline, with postgraduate qualifications highly regarded.
• Senior Town Planning leadership experience in a telecommunications environment (min 5 years).
• Experience delivering telecommunications or infrastructure projects in Australia.
• Strong understanding of planning legislation across multiple Australian jurisdictions.
• Extensive stakeholder engagement, community consultation and dispute resolution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clients, suppliers, contractors and communities.
• Collaborative, customer-focused with a commitment to safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Managing development applications and planning approvals for wireless infrastructure.
• Guiding outsourced planning partners and internal stakeholders.
• Identifying and removing barriers to site acquisition and planning approvals.
• Undertaking planning assessments and environmental impact considerations.
• Engaging stakeholders and supporting community sessions.
• Building strong client relationships to support project delivery.
• Coaching Town Planners to build capability across the team.
