Job summary

ADE Consulting Group in the Hunter region is seeking a Senior to Associate Environmental Consultant/Scientist or Engineer to lead contaminated-land projects across NSW. You will mentor juniors, manage budgets and schedules, and work with geotechnical, hazmat, and occupational hygiene teams to deliver practical, defensible outcomes.

Candidates should have 8–10+ years in contaminated land or environmental consulting, a local Newcastle-area presence, and CEnvP (or equivalent) preferred.

ADE Consulting Group is growing its contaminated‑land team in the Hunter, and we're looking for an energetic and dedicated Senior or Associate Consultant who wants to step into a role with real influence, strong regional presence, and a supportive multi‑disciplinary environment.

About the role:

You'll lead contaminated‑land projects across the Hunter and broader NSW, working closely with our geotechnical, hazmat, and occupational hygiene teams. This role suits someone who enjoys technical delivery, mentoring junior staff, and building strong client relationships.

What you'll be doing:

• Leading contaminated‑land investigations (PSI, DSI, groundwater, vapour, remediation, validation).
• Managing projects including budgets, scheduling, and subcontractors.
• Producing and reviewing reports that are clear, defensible, and aligned with NSW regulatory expectations.
• Mentoring junior consultants and supporting capability development.
• Engaging with clients to maintain strong relationships and deliver practical advice.

What we're looking for:

• 8-10+ years of experience in contaminated land or environmental consulting.
• Local presence - currently living in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Hunter or Central Coast;
• CEnvP (or equivalent) — General preferred.
• Strong field and technical capability across soil, groundwater, vapour, and air.
• Solid understanding of NSW regulatory frameworks (NEPM, CLM Act, council requirements).
• Leadership ability — mentoring, reviewing, guiding field programs.
• Established network with developers, councils, and industry (desirable).
• Multi‑disciplinary capability — contaminated land, geotechnical, hazmat, hygiene, monitoring.
• Working with an in‑house, local (also based in the Charlestown office) Certified Environmental Practitioner - Site Contamination specialist;
• Strong regional footprint across Newcastle, Hunter, Illawarra, and Sydney.
• Technically robust contaminated‑land practice with a reputation for practical, defensible work.
• Integrated contamination, hazardous building materials and geotechnical delivery for efficient project outcomes.
