Qualifications

• 4+ years of ETL/data warehouse/data quality testing experience.
• Strong SQL skills with complex joins, aggregations, subqueries.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test strategies, plans, test cases, and test scripts for ETL and data migration projects.
• Validate data extraction, transformation, and loading processes across multiple source and target systems.
• Perform source-to-target data validation, reconciliation, completeness, and integrity testing.
• Validate complex data transformations, business rules, calculations, and data mappings.
• Conduct functional, regression, integration, system, and data quality testing.
• Write and execute complex SQL queries to validate data across databases and data warehouse environments.
• Identify, investigate, document, and track data defects through to resolution.
• Work closely with developers, data engineers, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand requirements and resolve data issues.
• Validate financial calculations, transactions, balances, reporting data, and other critical datasets where applicable.
• Support testing across data warehouses, data lakes, APIs, batch processes, and downstream reporting platforms.
• Contribute to test automation and continuous improvement of data testing practices.
• Ensure testing activities align with financial services regulatory, governance, security, and audit requirements.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced ETL Tester to join our technology and data team in Sydney. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, integrity, and reliability of data as it moves between source systems, data warehouses, and downstream applications.

This role is suited to someone with strong experience in ETL/data warehouse testing, particularly within financial services, banking, insurance, or other highly regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities

Skills & Experience

• 4+ years of experience in ETL testing, data warehouse testing, or data quality testing.
• Strong SQL skills, including complex joins, aggregations, subqueries, and data reconciliation.
• Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT concepts and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience with tools such as Informatica, Talend, SSIS, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, or similar.
• Experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar.
• Strong understanding of data mapping, transformation rules, source-to-target validation, and reconciliation.
• Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar.
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

Desired Experience

• Experience in banking, lending, payments, wealth management, insurance, or financial markets is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of financial data, transactions, customer/account data, regulatory reporting, risk data, or financial reconciliation processes will be advantageous
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience testing data pipelines in Databricks or Snowflake.
• Knowledge of Python or another scripting language for test automation.
• Experience with API testing and batch-processing validation.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and automated testing frameworks.
