Job summary

Sydney Trains, part of Transport for NSW, seeks a highly experienced System Engineer for the Major Works Operational Technology team. The role is on-site in Sydney, focusing on Functional Analysis of Telecommunications Systems, FTN integration design, and change management for commissioning FTN upgrades or new systems.

The ideal candidate will have CCNP/CCIE-level expertise in carrier-grade IP/MPLS networks, hands-on Nokia technologies, and extensive firewall experience to ensure reliable rail

Qualifications

• Required: design and implement transmission systems incl. MPLS and TDM over IP.
• Experience applying Systems Engineering methodologies across development stages.
• Tertiary qualification in Electrical/Telecommunications engineering and eligibility for graduate Engineers Australia membership.

Responsibilities

• Perform Functional Analysis on Telecommunications Systems.
• Lead and manage Fixed Telecommunications Network (FTN) system integration design activities.
• Facilitate change management activities for commissioning FTN systems into operation.
• Provide stakeholder engagement across Sydney Trains and related teams.
