Job summary

Idemitsu Australia Pty Ltd. is seeking a technically strong and collaborative engineer to lead OT systems for CHPP operations, drive plant reliability, and guide digitalisation initiatives.

You will work across CHPP and MIA assets, collaborating with Operations, Maintenance, IT and vendors to push continuous improvement. The role requires a background in Mechanical/Electrical/Automation or Engineering with significant CHPP experience, strong analytics, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Mechanical, Electrical, Automation or Engineering qualification.
• Significant CHPP or fixed plant operations and maintenance experience.
• Strong understanding of OT systems including PLC and SCADA environments.
• Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
• Experience with reliability engineering, root cause analysis or defect elimination is valued.
• Familiarity with industrial networking and SAP/CMMS is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead OT systems across CHPP, including PLCs, SCADA, networks and field devices.
• Drive plant reliability, continuous improvement, defect elimination and technical optimisation across CHPP and MIA assets.
• Lead technology, automation, digitalisation and improvement projects from concept through to implementation.
• Use data analysis to identify performance opportunities and improve operational decision-making.
• Maintain OT governance, technical standards, documentation, configuration control and change management.
• Support compliance, technical assurance, audits, critical controls and risk management.
• Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Technical Services, HST, IT and external vendors.

Boggabri Coal Mine (BCO) is an open-cut coal operation producing in excess of 7 million tonnes per annum, with a mine life extending through until 2036. BCO is located approximately 68km from Narrabri, 53km from Gunnedah and 20km from Boggabri, offering a great opportunity to enjoy a unique country lifestyle.

How you will contribute:

• Lead Operational Technology (OT) systems across the CHPP, including PLCs, SCADA, networks and field devices.

What we're looking for:

You are a technically strong and collaborative engineer who enjoys improving plant reliability, technology and operational performance.

• Mechanical, Electrical, Automation or Engineering qualification.
• Significant experience within CHPP or fixed plant operations and maintenance.
• Strong understanding of Operational Technology systems, including PLC and SCADA environments.
• Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
• Experience in reliability engineering, root cause analysis or defect elimination will be highly regarded.
• Experience with industrial networking, cybersecurity, SAP/CMMS or automation/digital transformation will be advantageous.
• Strong commitment to safety leadership and continuous improvement.
