Job summary

Xpt Software Australia Pty Ltd in Sydney seeks a Technical Delivery Lead to own the development capability for customer delivery. You will lead a Java-focused delivery team, influence estimates and technical approaches, and balance customer priorities with platform integrity.

This senior role combines technical leadership, solution oversight, and strong customer engagement across complex SaaS projects, reporting to the Technical Manager within the Delivery function.

Qualifications

• Strong Java engineering knowledge with ability to review code, designs and engineering decisions.
• Experience leading developers or technical teams delivering complex production software.
• Experience operating within a SaaS, platform or software vendor environment.
• Exposure to multiple concurrent customer projects rather than a single internal product roadmap.
• Experience managing or influencing shared engineering resources across competing priorities.
• Strong solution architecture capability across APIs, integrations and enterprise software environments.
• Experience working directly with external customers on technical solutions and delivery matters.
• Commercial awareness and understanding that technical decisions can affect scope, timelines and outcomes.
• Strong judgement when working through ambiguous problems with trade-offs.
• Ability to form recommendations and stand behind them to stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills and presence with senior customer stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery capability supporting multiple concurrent customer projects.
• Prioritise engineering capacity across competing customer requirements with Delivery Managers.
• Review and challenge estimates, technical approaches, sequencing and delivery commitments.
• Translate customer requirements into practical technical designs balancing speed, maintainability and platform integrity.
• Take ownership of technical decisions where priorities and platform considerations compete.
• Act as a senior technical adviser in customer discussions involving design, risk and trade-offs.
• Identify risks early and work with Delivery Managers to prevent overruns.
• Provide technical leadership to the Java development team and set expectations for quality.
• Mentor and develop engineers to increase team capability and self-sufficiency.
• Ensure alignment of customer development with platform architecture, security and standards.
• Collaborate with Technical Manager and broader teams to resolve complex issues.
• Support effective planning of development resources across the portfolio.
• Deliver technically sound solutions that support customer and commercial outcomes.
