Job summary

Healthdirect Australia is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to own and evolve our identity, endpoint and collaboration technology. You will drive design through delivery, guide managed service vendors and act as senior escalation for corporate IT requests.

You will work independently in a collaborative team, contribute to security and compliance, and participate in an on-call roster. Hybrid work from our Haymarket office is available.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer and administer our identity and endpoint environment, including Entra ID, Intune, Windows 11 and macOS devices managed through Jamf.
• Own the administration and governance of Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Online, resolving complex escalations and documenting root cause.
• Implement and remediate ISM and Essential Eight controls, working closely with the IT Security team to strengthen our security and compliance posture.
• Assess proposed hardware and business applications for suitability, security and data implications, and advise on the best path before rollout.
• Lead technical projects and Level 3 support, provide oversight of managed service vendors, and automate repeatable work using PowerShell and Power Automate.

As our Senior Systems Engineer, you will be the technical authority for our corporate IT platform, spanning identity, Windows and macOS endpoints, Microsoft 365 collaboration including SharePoint, and supporting infrastructure. You will lead initiatives from design through to delivery, guide our managed service vendors, and act as the senior point of escalation for corporate services requests.

You will work with a high degree of autonomy in a collaborative team, helping keep our people productive and our environment secure and compliant. The role includes participation in an on-call roster.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

What you'll bring to the role

• Experience with Microsoft Defender, Purview, Copilot, Jira Service Management, vendor oversight, and Microsoft certifications (such as SC-300 or MD-102)
• 5+ years demonstrated experience utilising Entra ID for identity management, group management, PIM / PAM, Access Packages, Identity Governance, Conditional Access, App Registration, SAML, OAuth
• Strong experience managing hybrid identity environments (Active Directory, Microsoft Entra Connect)
• Desirable in-depth macOS enterprise management experience (Jamf certification or equivalent)
• 5+ years experience managing Microsoft Intune (device enrolment, policy development, application packaging, monitoring and troubleshooting)
• 5+ years experience in managing Exchange Online (mailbox and resource management, mail flow and transport rules)
