Job summary

HITACHI RAIL STS AUSTRALIA PTY LTD in Brisbane, Australia, is seeking a Senior System RAMS Engineer to join our RAMS team. You will lead RAM activities planning, budgeting, and lifecycle analysis within a fast-paced, international project setting.

The role requires a technical degree and at least 5 years in RAMS, with experience in Rail/Aerospace/Automotive sectors, strong MS Office skills, and knowledge of Isograph or equivalent tools. On-site work with global collaboration.

Qualifications

• Technical Degree or equivalent technical background.
• Minimum 5 years of RAMS experience.
• Experience in Reliability Engineering inRail/Aerospace/Automotive sectors.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
• Knowledge of Isograph software or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• RAM activities planning and support.
• RAM activities budget forecast and management.
• Provide feedback to project/product design team early in lifecycle.
• Perform Failure Mode and Effects Criticality Analysis.
• Reliability modelling: RBDs, FTA, Markov Chains, Petri‑Nets.
• Life Cycle Cost analysis.
• Product reliability predictions per IEC 61709:2017, MIL‑HDBK 217F, FIDES.
• Ensure RAM parameters performance demonstration in operation.
• Apply FRACAS process.
• Ensure RAM requirements are supplied to suppliers.
• Manage interfaces with other departments, suppliers, partners, clients.
• Develop and implement RAM standard processes.

Job Description

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self‑motivated Senior System RAMS Engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Brisbane, Australia.

Key responsibilities:

• RAM activities planning and support

• RAM activities budget forecast and management

• Provide feedback to project/product design team since the early phases of the project/product lifecycle

• Perform Failure Mode and Effects Criticality Analysis

• Reliability modelling techniques, RBDs, FTA, Markov Chains, Petri‑Nets etc.

• Life Cycle Cost analysis

• Products reliability predictions according to International Standards IEC 61709:2017, MIL‑HDBK 217F, FIDES etc.

• Ensure RAM parameters performance demonstration in operation

• Application of FRACAS process

• Ensure that suppliers are provided with appropriate RAM requirements

• Manage internal and external interfaces with other departments, suppliers, partners and clients

• Ensure development, improvement and implementation of RAM standard processes.

Skills & Experience:

• Technical Degree or equivalent technical background

• Minimum 5 years of experience in RAMS

• Experience of Reliability Engineering gained in one of these industry sectors: Rail, Aerospace, Automotive etc.

• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software

• Knowledge of Isograph software or equivalent
