Job summary

Embedded Expertise is seeking an experienced Senior Substation Engineer to support major renewable energy and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, from concept design through construction and commissioning.

In a high-performing engineering team, you will lead HV substation, BESS and renewable energy design activities, develop primary electrical layouts, earthing and cabling studies, and review deliverables to ensure compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of HV substation or primary systems engineering experience.
• Experience delivering renewable energy and/or BESS projects.
• Strong knowledge of primary plant design, earthing systems and HV infrastructure.
• Experience undertaking and reviewing engineering studies and calculations.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering activities across HV substation, BESS and renewable energy projects.
• Develop and review primary electrical designs and engineering studies.
• Prepare and review substation layouts, earthing, cabling and associated infrastructure designs.
• Undertake engineering studies including earthing, lightning protection, cable sizing and insulation coordination.
• Support HV equipment specification, procurement and technical evaluations.
• Provide technical guidance and support to project teams.
• Review engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with project and industry standards.
• Support construction and commissioning through technical advice and issue resolution.
