Strength Engineering Pty Ltd in Victoria is seeking an Engineering Manager for Structural and Forensic Engineering to lead the engineering team and oversee the technical delivery of structural, forensic and remedial projects. This senior role requires strong leadership and a registered professional engineer in Victoria.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or equivalent.
  • More than 7 years of relevant structural engineering experience within Australia.
  • Current registration as a Professional Engineer in Victoria in the relevant area of engineering.
  • Strong Australian structural engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in forensic structural engineering and building defect investigations.
  • Experience assessing structural cracking, movement, settlement, deterioration and structural failures.
  • Strong knowledge of existing buildings, structural systems and construction methods.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing structural calculations, engineering drawings and technical reports.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and people management skills.
  • Proven experience leading, mentoring or managing engineers.
  • Strong technical judgement and practical problem-solving capability.
  • Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple engineers, projects and competing priorities.
  • Strong understanding of professional engineering responsibilities, technical risk and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and develop structural and civil engineers.
  • Manage engineering workloads, priorities and project allocation.
  • Review and approve engineering calculations, reports, drawings and technical documentation.
  • Undertake and oversee structural and civil engineering designs for proposed low-rise residential and commercial construction.
  • Provide senior technical input on complex structural, forensic and remedial engineering matters.
  • Undertake and oversee forensic investigations into structural movement, cracking, deterioration and building defects.
  • Review proposed rectification methodologies and remedial structural designs.
  • Maintain engineering quality assurance and internal review processes.
  • Support engineers with technical decisions, investigations and problem solving.
  • Ensure projects are delivered efficiently, professionally and within agreed timeframes.
  • Manage technical risk and ensure engineering recommendations are practical, defensible and appropriately documented.
  • Support preparation of engineering scopes, fee proposals and project methodologies.
  • Liaise with clients, builders, architects, building surveyors, project managers, insurers and other consultants.
  • Improve engineering procedures, templates, systems and technical standards.
  • Assist with recruitment, resourcing and ongoing development of the engineering team.
  • Work closely with the Directors on technical strategy and the continued growth of the business.
