Job summary

Ausgrid, headquartered in Sydney, seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead design for critical electrical infrastructure and buildings up to 132kV. You will balance office design work with site inspections, guiding multi-disciplinary teams to safe, practical outcomes.

Ideally, you bring a Civil/Structural Engineering degree, Chartered eligibility, and extensive experience with Australian Standards and NCC. A driver’s license and willingness for site visits are required.

Qualifications

• A degree qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering, with eligibility for Chartered membership of Engineers Australia.
• Extensive experience delivering structural engineering design across complex environments.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, the NCC and best practice in design.
• Ability to solve complex engineering problems with practical, risk-based solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication across multidisciplinary teams.
• Work collaboratively across functional groups with a safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural and civil design activities for a diverse infrastructure portfolio.
• Visit sites, inspect assets, and provide technical support during delivery.
• Collaborate with project teams, field staff and consultants to deliver outcomes.
• Review and approve designs ensuring safety and quality compliance.
• Provide expert advice to resolve engineering and asset challenges.
• Identify and manage engineering risks to support asset reliability.
• Mentor engineers and designers and promote engineering standards.
