Barclay Recruitment is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for Bespoke Projects in Brisbane. You will lead technically on architecturally driven homes, renovations and boutique multi-residential developments, with autonomy and direct collaboration with architects, builders and clients.

Qualifications

• Experienced Structural Engineer with hands-on design across steel and concrete.
• Experience with suspended concrete slabs; PT concrete advantageous.
• Ability to take ownership from concept through construction.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on structural design across reinforced concrete, structural steel and timber.
• Design of suspended concrete slabs, with post-tensioned concrete experience highly regarded.
• Taking ownership of projects from initial concept and design through to construction and completion.
• Developing practical engineering solutions for complex architectural designs and renovations.
• Working directly with architects, builders, clients and other consultants.
• Providing construction-stage advice, site inspections and resolving technical challenges.
• Reviewing structural designs, calculations and documentation.
• Contributing to project delivery, client relationships and team growth.
• Supporting junior engineers and sharing technical knowledge.
• Helping shape processes, standards and future direction of the Bespoke Engineering team.

The Role This is an opportunity for a Structural Engineer who enjoys the technical side of engineering but is ready for more ownership, autonomy and involvement in project decisions.

You'll become a key member of the Bespoke Engineering team, working on projects that demand creativity, sound engineering judgement and practical solutions.

From architecturally designed homes and complex renovations through to boutique multi-residential developments, you'll be involved from the early design stages right through to construction.

You'll have the freedom to manage your projects, build relationships with architects and builders, and contribute to how the team operates and grows.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Hands-on structural design across reinforced concrete, structural steel and timber
• Design of suspended concrete slabs, with post-tensioned concrete experience highly regarded
• Taking ownership of projects from initial concept and design through to construction and completion
• Developing practical engineering solutions for complex architectural designs, renovations and structural alterations
• Working directly with architects, builders, clients and other consultants
• Providing construction-stage advice, undertaking site inspections and resolving technical challenges
• Reviewing structural designs, calculations and documentation
• Contributing to project delivery, commercial outcomes and client relationships
• Supporting junior engineers and sharing technical knowledge
• Helping shape the processes, standards and future direction of the Bespoke Engineering team

About You

Technical capability matters, but attitude, communication and the way you approach your work matter just as much.

You'll be an experienced Structural Engineer with strong hands-on design capability across steel and concrete, including suspended slabs and ideally PT concrete.

You'll also bring:

• Strong experience within building structures
• Practical construction knowledge and sound engineering judgement
• Confidence dealing directly with architects, builders and clients
• Experience with suspended concrete slabs, with PT design experience advantageous
• A commercial mindset and ownership of project outcomes
• Experience across bespoke residential, complex renovations or boutique multi-residential would be highly regarded
• Existing relationships within the architectural community would be advantageous
• RPEQ registration is highly regarded, however there is flexibility depending on your broader experience, capability and fit.
