Responsibilities

• Provide high level strategic advice and recommendations to the Executive Leadership Board (ELB) in relation to public relations, media and communication aligned to strategic objectives.
• Manage and coordinate day to day media and communication activities including researching, writing and distributing media releases and responses.
• Develop and implement media initiatives that position the Commission to be part of, and influential in, public discussions that promote the Commission's initiatives and safeguarding positions, while providing and responding to emerging issues.
• Develop and nurture relationships with spokespeople, brief them for media interviews using formal media‑training techniques and provide ongoing support and expert media advice.
• Develop, manage and coordinate public‑facing communication materials including speeches, talking points, social media content and newsletters, based on the organisations reports and research papers.
• Develop and promote the reputation of the Commission and Commissioner's through effective public relations and media management, including monitoring the rapidly evolving news cycle to identify strategic, proactive and reactive media opportunities and mobilise timely responses.
• Stay up to date with the rapidly evolving news cycle in order to identify strategic, proactive and reactive media opportunities, brief the business appropriately and prepare responses.
• Work with the other teams to develop, test and update the Commission's messaging and narrative advice, including key materials and resources.
