Job summary

GreenPoint Energy is seeking a trader to manage real-time electricity market activities in Australia, focusing on battery energy storage systems (BESS) and wind assets. You will develop strategies, back-test against historical data, and use analytics tools to identify risks and opportunities while collaborating with asset teams to improve execution.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years in energy markets, direct BESS trading exposure in the NEM, and familiarity with bidding algorithms.

Qualifications

• At least two years in energy markets or trading analytics.
• Direct exposure to BESS trading in the NEM is preferred.
• Experience with bidding algorithms and trading tools is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Trade a growing portfolio of battery and wind assets in the NEM, backed by long-term institutional capital, from our purpose-built offices in Brighton, Melbourne.

Key responsibilities

Real time market trading and market monitoring

Develop trading strategies and techniques

Back-test strategies against historical data to check performance and robustness

Use in-house and external tools to find the risks and opportunities that move spot prices

Work with the analytics and asset teams to refine models and improve execution

About you

At least two years in energy markets, covering electricity spot market trading, trading analytics, risk and market modelling

Direct exposure to BESS trading in the NEM

Bidding algorithm software, in-house or third party

Python or SQL (bonus but not a requirement)

Willingness to use AI in day to day work
