Job summary

Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is seeking a Senior Speech Pathologist, Grade 3, 0.8FTE, based in Parkville with Sunshine responsibilities. The role focuses on speech, language and communication assessments within a multidisciplinary autism assessment pathway for young people aged 12 to 25.

You will join a values-led team delivering SLCN support in mental health settings, with opportunities for professional development and flexible working arrangements where possible.

Qualifications

• Experience in Speech Pathology theory and practice, focusing on SCLN of young people in mental health settings.
• Skilled in working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental differences.
• Strong communication skills to convey clinical observations, assessment outcomes, and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interdisciplinary assessments for ADHD and Autism within a multidisciplinary team
• Conduct speech pathology assessments focused on language and social communication together with diagnosis of any developmental language disorder
• Produce high-quality reports with recommendations for managing clients' Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN) in a timely manner
• Consult and build capacity among clinicians within the multidisciplinary team and PYMHWS regarding SLCN in young people
• Deliver brief interventions for young people with SCLN and their families as required to enhance access to mental health care
