Job summary

The Department of Transport and Planning seeks a Senior Solution Architect to lead architecture, design and governance of complex technology programs in Melbourne. You will translate business needs into secure, scalable solutions aligned with government standards and modernisation goals.

You will drive architecture reviews, manage technical risks, mentor teams and collaborate with senior stakeholders and vendors to support investment decisions and standardise practices.

Qualifications

• A IT degree with TOGAF or SAFe certification is mandatory.
• Experience providing technical leadership for public sector transformation projects.
• AWS or Azure cloud certifications and knowledge of ISO 27001 / NIST / ASD Essential 8 / VPDSF.

The Senior Solution Architect leads the architecture, design and governance of complex technology initiatives across DTP. The role provides strategic advice across cloud, identity and access management, enterprise applications and technology modernisation, translating business needs into secure, scalable and sustainable solutions aligned with enterprise standards and government requirements.

The role leads solution design and architecture reviews, manages technical risks and provides oversight throughout delivery. It builds strong relationships with senior stakeholders, vendors and project teams, explains complex technical issues clearly, supports technology investment and modernisation decisions, and drives consistent architecture practices. The role also mentors technical teams and improves architecture standards, frameworks and capability

Qualifications And Experience

You’ll bring:

• A tertiary qualification in Information Technology or equivalent, with certification or experience in architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or SAFe. (mandatory)
• Experience providing technical leadership for corporate transformation projects within a public sector organisation. (mandatory)
• AWS or Azure Cloud certification and knowledge of compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, ASD Essential 8 or VPDSF.
