Job summary

Victorian Government Solicitor's Office seeks a Principal Solicitor to deliver expert legal services to government clients, manage complex litigation, and mentor junior solicitors within the Litigation and Dispute Resolution branch.

You will report to the Managing Principal Solicitor and oversee strategic civil litigation, while handling a diverse caseload and guiding junior staff in a supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years practising experience.
• Proven experience conducting complex and sensitive litigation in state courts and tribunals.
• Experience providing written and oral advice fit for purpose.
• Experience acting for government or statutory authorities and/or insurers is valued.
• Experience in personal injury/civil litigation desirable.
• Proven experience supervising files or mentoring staff.

Responsibilities

• Managing and supervising strategic civil litigation.
• Independently managing a diverse caseload.
• Supervising and mentoring junior solicitors and paralegals.
• Playing a strategic and operational role within the team and the LDR branch.
