Job summary

NSW Department of Communities and Justice – Parramatta NSW is seeking a Senior Solicitor in the Development and Capital Projects (Homes NSW) Legal team. The role focuses on complex property development and construction matters, providing strategic legal advice and negotiating major contracts.

The Senior Solicitor will work across urban renewal and social housing projects, with flexible hybrid working arrangements and mid-level PQE requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience working on complex property matters is essential.
• Experience with development contracts or front-end construction matters is highly desirable.
• Mid-level lawyer with 4-5 years PQE.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice on property, development and construction matters.
• Review and negotiate complex contracts (e.g. GC21, AS4902) and project delivery agreements.
• Identify and manage emerging legal risks and provide practical solutions.
• Collaborate with internal/external teams and stakeholders to support outcomes.
• Mentor and develop junior legal staff within a dynamic team.
• Contribute to team strategy and continuous improvement.
