NSW Crown Solicitors Office (CSO) is seeking a Senior Solicitor V to join the Torts Service & Regulatory Agencies Practice Group within the Civil Law & Commercial Strategy Division. You will provide expert legal advice and advocacy across personal injury, medical negligence and coronial matters, representing NSW Government agencies in high-profile litigation.

Classification grade: Legal Officer Grade V

Salary: $159,035 - $162,153 p.a. (plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annualised leave loading.)

Work type: Temporary 12 months with a possibility of further extension or conversion to ongoing, full-time (35 hours a week).

The successful candidate will be appointed to the role, with an anticipated commencement in February 2027.

Work location: Our primary place of work is located at 252 Pitt Street, Sydney.

We are currently seeking talented individuals for the role of Senior Solicitor V to join our Torts Service & Regulatory Agencies Practice Group within the Civil Law & Commercial Strategy Division. We particularly encourage applications from candidates with demonstrated experience in medical negligence, insurance or acting for defendants in civil claims. This expertise will be highly regarded. Applicants must also demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, including the ability to supervise junior solicitors and paralegals.

We are seeking candidates with 5+ years of post-admission experience for the Senior Solicitor V position.

About You

As a Senior Solicitor V, you will represent NSW Government agencies in high-profile and complex litigation across various courts and tribunals. Your responsibilities will include providing expert legal advice and advocacy in key areas such as personal injury, medical negligence and coronial inquests.

In this role, you will lead and manage your own legal practice, provide strategic advice on complex legal issues, and mentor junior legal staff. To succeed in these roles, you will bring proven litigation experience, strong legal analysis and drafting skills, a collaborative and client-focused approach, and demonstrated leadership experience supervising and developing junior team members.
