Job summary

Amplar Health, part of the Medibank Group, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and deliver secure, scalable applications across virtual healthcare, telehealth, in-clinic and in-home services.

You will own complex technical outcomes from discovery to production, mentoring peers and coordinating with product, security and clinical stakeholders to balance customer, clinical and technology needs.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of professional software development experience.
• Experience building modern web applications, APIs and distributed services.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, secure coding and non-functional requirements.
• Experience with GitHub or a comparable version-control platform, automated testing and CI/CD.
• Experience working with relational and/or document databases.
• A track record of owning complex production systems or significant technical initiatives.
• The ability to mentor engineers, influence technical decisions and explain complex concepts to different audiences.
• Experience working in agile, cross-functional product teams from discovery through to production support.
• RESTful APIs, event-driven integration or resilient distributed systems (nice to have).
• AWS and cloud-native architecture (nice to have).
• Infrastructure as code (nice to have).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test and implement complex software features, APIs and services.
• Provide pragmatic technical leadership while remaining hands-on with development.
• Make and communicate design decisions across scalability, security, maintainability, performance and delivery speed.
• Shape engineering standards across testing, CI/CD, observability, resilience and secure development.
• Break complex initiatives into clear, testable deliverables and identify technical risks and dependencies.
• Mentor engineers through pairing, coaching, constructive code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Work across engineering, product, architecture, cyber security, privacy, clinical and operational teams.
• Support production systems, lead root-cause analysis and turn incident learnings into lasting improvements.
