Job summary

Optus is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - GoLang to design, build, and support high-performance integration services and enterprise applications that underpin OSS platforms.

You will lead design discussions, mentor peers, and own end-to-end delivery while collaborating with product owners and cross-functional teams to deliver robust GoLang solutions.

Qualifications

• 7-8 years of hands-on GoLang experience with production-grade apps.
• Strong GoLang expertise including APIs, microservices, concurrency and design patterns.
• Experience with REST, Kafka, event-driven architectures, CI/CD pipelines and relational databases.
• Excellent problem-solving and ability to mentor and influence technical direction.

As a Senior Software Engineer - GoLang, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and supporting high-performance integration services and enterprise applications that underpin key OSS platforms across Optus. This role is ideal for a highly skilled GoLang engineer who has hands-on experience delivering production-grade applications end-to-end. You will be a technical leader within the team, driving engineering excellence, mentoring peers, and influencing architectural decisions while remaining deeply involved in coding, solution design, and delivery.

What You'll Do

Design, develop, deploy, and support enterprise-grade GoLang applications and integration services across the full software development lifecycle.

Build scalable APIs, microservices, and event-driven solutions using GoLang, ensuring high performance, reliability, maintainability, and security.

Lead technical design discussions, code reviews, and engineering decisions while mentoring engineers and championing modern software development best practices.

Collaborate with architects, product owners, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver robust solutions that solve complex business and operational challenges.

What You Bring

7-8 years of strong commercial experience developing and deploying GoLang applications, with the ability to demonstrate end-to-end ownership of solutions delivered into production environments.

Deep expertise in GoLang development, including APIs, microservices, concurrent processing, design patterns, performance optimisation, testing, and code quality practices.

Experience working with REST APIs, Kafka, event-driven architectures, CI/CD pipelines, GitLab, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or Oracle.

Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to mentor others, influence technical direction, and thrive in a complex enterprise technology environment.
