Emesent is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to the Cortex stack, spanning low-level C++ modules to Python tooling. You will design robust architectures, implement features, and drive automated testing and deployment in Linux environments.

You will collaborate across hardware, software, and product teams to translate field requirements into reliable software and mentor others on engineering craft and best practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in C++ (C++20+) and Python 3.
• Working knowledge of Bash.
• Experience with GitHub and AWS deployments.
• Familiarity with build systems, CI/CD, and Docker.
• Proven automated testing experience and robust, extensible code.
• Experience with Linux-based systems.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Nice to have robotics exposure (ROS1/ROS2, Gazebo/Isaac Sim) and sensor fusion concepts.

Responsabilités

• Apply SOLID software engineering and architectural principles across the Cortex stack.
• Evolve software architecture to remain scalable and maintainable as the platform grows.
• Design, implement, and maintain core Cortex modules (e.g., hardware interface, navigation, mapping, perception).
• Write production-quality C++ for performance-critical components.
• Build tooling, test harnesses, and analysis scripts in Python.
• Use Bash for scripting across development and deployment workflows.
• Develop software on Linux-based systems.
• Own and expand automated testing and regression pipelines.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and containerised workflows (Docker).
• Deploy and integrate software using GitHub and AWS ecosystems.
• Validate software in simulation and on hardware, including field trials.
• Mentor engineers, lead design and code reviews, and share knowledge.
