Job summary

Australian Centre for Robotics at the University of Sydney seeks a Senior Software Developer to advance autonomous marine vehicle systems for field applications. You will develop navigation, data processing, and mission-planning software and build user interfaces for remote monitoring and control.

You will contribute to real-time data visualization, cloud-based mission analysis, and robust software design to support complex underwater mapping and surveillance tasks.

Qualifications

• The candidate holds postgraduate qualifications or equivalent in software/robotics.
• Experience developing software in agile or scrum environments.
• Strong programming experience in Python, C++ and JavaScript.
• Experience with robotics software development, integration and debugging.
• Experience designing testing frameworks and deployment pipelines.
• Experience across embedded systems, web apps and UI development.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with researchers, engineers and stakeholders to deliver software solutions aligned to research goals.
• Lead development of software components and applications for marine robotic systems.
• Design system architecture to optimise performance and reliability.
• Implement testing methodologies and resolve bugs and errors.
• Plan and execute software deployments and maintain documentation for compliance and safety.
