Job summary

Nine, Australia’s leading locally owned media company, seeks a Senior Software Engineer for the Digital Archive project. Lead the design of AI-powered products to unlock and monetize our 195-year archive for internal creators and new markets.

Join a team delivering scalable architectures, cloud-first pipelines, and collaboration with senior stakeholders to evolve our media platforms into future revenue streams. This is a 12-month contract with hybrid work options.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of progressive experience in software engineering for enterprise platforms.
• Golang or Java proficiency required.
• Proven track record of designing scalable, robust architectures.
• Deep expertise in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Experience integrating machine learning/AI to enrich content and new products.
• Strong technical leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, robust infrastructure for ingestion, processing, and preservation of large multimedia datasets.
• Build architecture integrating ML capabilities for smart content discovery.
• Define distributed systems and ensure cloud integration.
• Mentor teams and communicate architectural decisions to executives and stakeholders.
