Job summary

Impact Curriculum is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of complex software across our educational platforms. You’ll work closely with the CTO and technology team, balancing hands-on engineering with technical leadership to build scalable, secure, and user-centred solutions.

This is a remote-friendly, Australia-wide role offering flexible arrangements. You’ll mentor engineers, influence architecture, improve testing and CI/CD practices, and translate product needs

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing, building and supporting production software systems.
• Advanced programming with TypeScript, Node.js, Go and Terraform.
• Strong experience with APIs, integrations, databases and cloud-based environments.
• Demonstrated capability in technical design, architecture and evaluating technical trade-offs.
• Strong knowledge of automated testing, CI/CD, performance, security and system reliability.
• Excellent analytical, debugging and complex problem-solving skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers and improving engineering practices.
• The confidence to make sound technical decisions and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical colleagues.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer who combines strong technical capability with sound judgement, curiosity and a collaborative approach to technical leadership.

This is an opportunity to help shape and strengthen the technology behind our digital products while remaining close to hands-on engineering.

About the role

Working closely with our CTO and Technology Team, you'll take technical ownership of complex engineering challenges, contribute to the evolution of our digital platforms and help build strong, sustainable engineering practices.

You'll influence technical decisions, guide other engineers and work collaboratively across product and data to deliver technology that is scalable, secure, reliable and user-centred.

What you'll be doing

• Leading the design and development of complex software applications, services and integrations.

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone with:

• Substantial experience designing, building and supporting production software systems.
• Advanced programming capability (Typescript, NodeJS, Go, Terraform) and experience with contemporary software frameworks and architectures.
• Strong experience with APIs, integrations, databases and cloud-based environments.
• Demonstrated capability in technical design, architecture and evaluating technical trade-offs.
• Strong knowledge of automated testing, CI/CD, performance, security and system reliability.
• Excellent analytical, debugging and complex problem-solving skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers and improving engineering practices.
• The confidence to make sound technical decisions, communicate clearly and work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.

You’ll be comfortable working with ambiguity, taking ownership and finding practical solutions without unnecessarily adding complexity.

This is a technical leadership role, not a formal people-management position.
