Job summary

RMS in Melbourne is building the next generation of our core platform, using AI-assisted engineering and spec-driven development. You will work across React front ends, C# and VB.Net services, and multiple databases to deliver scalable solutions for hospitality operators.

Qualifications

• Must have proven experience building and maintaining complex full stack apps in C# or VB.Net and React.
• Strong PostgreSQL and MS-SQL skills for design, queries and fast data access.
• Experience designing APIs and asynchronous messaging patterns; solid testing habits including unit/integration tests.

Responsibilities

• Write specifications and acceptance criteria for AI agents guiding implementation, testing and refactoring.
• Own and validate AI-generated code to ensure production readiness and security.
• Build and optimize features across React front ends, C# and VB.Net services, and PostgreSQL / MS-SQL databases.
• Tune queries, APIs and back-end processes for scale and performance.
• Shape architecture, integration patterns and testing strategy with design, product and senior engineers.
• Mentor junior developers and evolve standards for AI-assisted development.

In the Core Platform team, you'll do it in the most complex part of the property management system that thousands of hospitality businesses worldwide run on.

The opportunity

We're rethinking how software gets built at RMS, moving towards spec-driven development where engineers define the intent and use AI agents to accelerate delivery. You'll help shape this approach within Core Platform, the most complex part of our property management system, solving challenging technical problems and influencing how we engineer at scale.

What you'll take on

• Work with AI agents daily, writing the specifications and acceptance criteria that guide implementation, testing and refactoring.
• Own and validate AI-generated code so what reaches production is secure, tested and maintainable.
• Build and optimise features across React front ends, C# and VB.Net services, and PostgreSQL and MS-SQL databases.
• Tune queries, APIs and back-end processes so the platform stays fast as it scales.
• Shape architecture, integration patterns and testing strategy alongside design, product and fellow senior engineers.
• Mentor junior developers and help evolve our standards for AI-assisted development.

What you'll bring

• Experience building and maintaining complex full stack applications in C# or VB.Net and React.
• Strong PostgreSQL and MS-SQL skills: database design, query optimisation and keeping data fast and correct.
• Experience designing APIs, and familiarity with asynchronous messaging patterns.
• Solid testing habits: unit and integration testing, plus at least one automation framework such as Playwright.
• Sound engineering judgement, including validating and owning AI-generated output, and comfort with AI-assisted workflows or real motivation to adopt them.
• Clear communication about intent and trade-offs, and a genuine interest in mentoring others.

For this role, you'll work within our Metro-Anchored mode, based within commuting distance of our Melbourne office, with no fixed office days but the expectation you can come together with the team in person when it matters.
