Role

To support our global growth, we are expanding our software development team. We seek an experienced senior engineer with a proven track record in designing and developing scalable, secure, and high-performance applications. This role involves engaging with stakeholders, product, and project managers within an agile environment, contributing to our Smart Grid and Energy Management Platform through research, analysis, design, and delivery, aligned with evolving business needs.

What are we looking for?

We want a passionate software developer skilled in building excellent applications. The candidate will work within an agile team, contributing to the development of GridBeyond’s Smart Grid Platform through programming, analysis, design, and implementation, using industry-standard tools to meet business needs and deliver solutions to our customers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead development efforts in the Controls and Energy Services team to create products for current and new markets, improving existing solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, product, and project managers to gather and document technical requirements, proposing optimal solutions.
  • Implement energy services business logic and TSO integrations, ensuring designs support the company's technological strategy and platform evolution.
  • Document software and facilitate handovers and application delivery.
  • Work with the team lead to identify architectural improvements and incorporate new technologies where appropriate.
  • Contribute ideas to enhance standards, processes, and innovate solutions for efficiency.

Required Experience and Skills

  • 5+ years as a Senior Developer.
  • Proven success in designing high-availability, high-performance, scalable applications.
  • Extensive experience with object-oriented programming in C#, .NET, Entity Framework, and API services.
  • Strong experience with MS SQL databases.
  • Experience with OpenADR protocol.
  • Fluent in Japanese and English, capable of reading technical documents in both languages.
  • Understanding of cloud-based platform design and Azure development experience.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable with diverse stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset, passionate about problem-solving, system design, and software development.
  • Ability to innovate and approach complex design problems creatively.

Technologies Used

  • .NET Core/Standard/Framework, SQL, Data lake, Event Hubs, Redis, Relational databases, Microsoft Azure, SCADA, REST, SOAP APIs.
  • Core language: C#
  • Bonus: Python, Azure IoT knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or Management Information Systems is highly desirable.

Additional advantageous experience includes:

  • Multi-threaded/Async applications.
  • Experience in energy industry and passion for sustainability and innovation.
  • Exposure to automation, control systems, PID, SCADA.
  • Knowledge of protocols like MQTT, ICCP, OpenADR, FTP/SFTP, MODBUS.
  • Understanding energy domain principles: kW, kWh, frequency, voltage.
