What’s the opportunity?

As a Snowflake Data Architect in Telstra Health’s Architecture and Standards group you will apply your deep understanding of the healthcare industry, data architecture patterns, and the Snowflake Platform to provide well‑architected data and analytics solutions for our customers and partners.

About the role:
  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and high‑performance Snowflake solutions, developing reusable patterns for data warehousing, data lakes, and real‑time data.
  • Apply healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7, CDA) and ensure security, privacy, and compliance with regulations (e.g. GDPR, IRAP).
  • Build and optimise data models, and design efficient ELT pipelines to integrate real‑time and batch data from diverse sources.
  • Implement robust controls such as RBAC, encryption, and data masking to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Partner with business units, engineers, and external providers to align architecture with strategic needs; act as the Snowflake subject matter expert.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation and champion Snowflake best practices across teams.
  • Monitor and tune workloads, improve pipeline efficiency, and optimise storage and compute resources.
  • Provide knowledge sharing, training, and mentorship to colleagues and junior team members.
About you:
  • Proven ability to design and deliver solutions on the Snowflake Data Cloud platform.
  • Strong hands‑on expertise with Snowflake.
  • Solid background in data architecture and engineering.
  • Deep knowledge of data integration, including Medallion‑style architecture.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a track record of working effectively across multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with databases such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of AWS data services (e.g. S3, IAM, RDS).
  • Experience with dimensional data modelling.
  • Understanding of healthcare data standards (HL7 FHIR) and terminologies (SNOMED CT‑AU, LOINC, ICD‑10).
  • Exposure to Salesforce Health Cloud.
