Project Portfolio Management (PPM) is seeking a seasoned SMP Mechanical Engineer to join its team in Australia. The role focuses on designing and maintaining mechanical systems for mining and heavy industrial applications, backed by a strong technical foundation and years of practical experience.

You will lead analyses, feasibility studies, and cost estimates, while mentoring project teams and ensuring safety and environmental compliance across projects of significant scale.

Qualifications

• This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in mining or heavy industrial sectors.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar engineering design tools.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem solving with clear communication.
• Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations in mining/heavy industry.

Responsibilities

• The design, development, and maintenance of mechanical systems for mining/heavy industrial use.
• Conduct technical analyses, feasibility studies, and cost estimations for new projects.
• Provide technical mentorship to project teams across design and construction.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Offer troubleshooting support to operations and maintenance teams.
• Perform inspections and audits to align with company standards.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to develop innovative solutions.
