Job Description
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Services / Systems Integration Engineer to support the Defence Land Network Integration Centre (LNIC).
This is a senior, hands-on technical engineering position responsible for the integration, assurance, testing, maintenance and ongoing evolution of complex Defence ICT and mission systems.
The successful candidate will work across interconnected applications, networks, infrastructure, identity services and mission systems to ensure interfaces, dependencies, configurations and system designs remain aligned and operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer and integrate complex ICT and mission systems.
- Maintain system architecture, design, interface and configuration documentation.
- Perform systems integration, verification, validation and technical testing.
- Troubleshoot complex integration and interoperability issues.
- Provide Level 3 engineering and technical support.
- Maintain hardware, software and system configuration baselines.
- Assess impacts of changes across interconnected systems and interfaces.
- Support Test & Evaluation, risk-reduction activities, trials and acceptance testing.
- Work with Defence ICT, ADF, APS, project teams, security teams and other technical stakeholders.
- Provide technical advice on integrated systems, architecture and engineering issues.
- Support Joint and Coalition ICT integration activities.
- Produce technical reports covering findings, risks, issues and recommended actions.
- Provide technical mentoring and knowledge transfer to ADF personnel.
Mandatory Requirements
- Minimum NV2 security clearance on commencement.
- Ability to work onsite at Symonston, ACT.
- Significant experience engineering and integrating complex ICT systems.
Strong systems/software engineering experience covering:
- Requirements analysis
- Interface management
- Configuration control
- Integration testing
- Verification and validation
- Integration troubleshooting
- Experience integrating and sustaining enterprise applications and ICT environments.
- LAN/WAN
- TCP/IP/IP addressing

- Experience implementing or assessing security controls aligned with the Australian Government ISM and Essential Eight.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently as a senior technical practitioner.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and technical advisory capability.
Highly Desirable
- Defence ICT, Joint, Coalition or deployable network experience.
- Systems Engineering qualifications or equivalent practical experience.
- Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Windows Server 2022+ and Windows 11 SOE engineering.
- PKI, authentication, federation and trust services.
- PowerShell, Bash, Ansible or similar automation/scripting.
- Architecture and interface control documentation.
- Configuration and baseline management.
- Test & Evaluation, acceptance testing, trials or risk-reduction activities.
- XMPP/chat, mail relay and proxy technologies.
- Mobile Device Management and End User Device configuration.
- Application/binary whitelisting.
- Understanding of FVEY networks, systems or processes.
- Previous Defence capability development, integration or experimentation experience.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a senior Defence Systems Engineer, Systems Integration Engineer or ICT Infrastructure Engineer with strong hands-on Windows, networking, security and integration experience. Candidates should be capable of independently diagnosing complex integration issues and providing authoritative technical advice within a Defence environment.
