Job summary

Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Australia's leading independent law firm, seeks a Senior Security Manager to translate strategy into action and lead the Security & Risk function. You will be the operational lead, overseeing incidents, vulnerabilities and continuous improvement, while shaping security programs across the firm.

You will work with executive stakeholders, manage vendors, drive automation and AI-enabled operations, and mentor a small security team in a collaborative, hybrid workplace.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced security leader to step into a genuine second-in-command position, partnering closely with the Head of Security & Risk to lead the day-to-day operation of a mature and highly visible security function. You'll have the opportunity to influence security strategy while remaining close to operational delivery, leading security operations, incident response, risk and assurance activities, security platforms, service providers and a high-performing team.

The Role

As Senior Security Manager, you'll be responsible for translating security strategy into action. Acting as the operational lead for the Security & Risk function, you'll oversee security performance, manage incidents and vulnerabilities, drive continuous improvement and provide leadership across critical security programs.

You’ll work across the business to ensure security controls are effective, risks are managed, security obligations are met, and technology platforms continue to deliver value in an evolving threat landscape. You’ll also play a key role in shaping the firm’s future security capabilities, including automation and AI-enabled security operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day security operations, incident response and operational priorities.
• Act as deputy to the Head of Security & Risk and provide leadership continuity when required.
• Drive vulnerability management, threat management and security assurance activities.
• Oversee security vendors, managed service providers and platform performance.
• Maintain and continuously improve the firm’s information security management system and audit readiness.

• Champion automation, process improvement and AI-enabled security operations.
• Mentor and develop a small high-performing security team while building strong stakeholder relationships across the firm.
  

About You

You are an experienced security leader who combines strong technical credibility with commercial judgement, stakeholder influence and operational leadership.

You’ll bring:

• Experience operating or improving an ISO 27001-aligned security management framework.
• Exposure to security platforms, managed services, automation and modern security tooling.
• The ability to communicate complex security and risk concepts to executive and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working with third-party providers, service levels and governance requirements.
• A collaborative leadership style with a focus on developing people and delivering outcomes.
