Job summary

Nowra Anglican College in the Shoalhaven, NSW, is seeking a dynamic Senior School English Teacher to join our secondary faculty. You will inspire students across Stages 4–6 with differentiated instruction and a Christian worldview, contributing to an inclusive, faith-friendly learning environment.

Collaborate with experienced colleagues, embed Building Learning Power in daily practice, and participate in staff devotions and performance reviews.

Qualifications

• Qualifications: A recognised teaching degree (e.g., Bachelor of Education or undergraduate degree plus post-graduate teaching qualification).
• Accreditation & Safety: Eligibility for NESA accreditation and a valid NSW WWCC.
• Teaching Expertise: Experience teaching Stage 6 English as well as Stages 4 and 5; Extension 1 desirable.
• Christian Commitment: Active commitment to Anglican independent Christian education and involvement in a local church.
• Collaborative Culture: Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to contribute to a team.
• Standard Hours: 8:15 am to 3:45 pm, Monday to Friday.
• Staff Meetings: Tuesday afternoons until 5:00 pm.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging English learning programs for Stages 4–6.
• Embed Building Learning Power concepts into everyday teaching sequences.
• Actively model Christian ethos and participate in staff devotions and the Christian life of the school.
• Contribute to the Senior School pastoral care program and lead a co-curricular activity.
• Collaborate on annual performance reviews and work with Head of Department and Senior Leadership.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an energetic, innovative, and dedicated Senior School English Teacher to join our secondary faculty.

In this role, you will inspire students across Stages 4, 5, and 6 English, delivering differentiated instruction that unlocks individual potential. Working collaboratively with experienced educators, you will integrate a Christian worldview into your teaching while fostering a dynamic, inclusive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Excellence in Teaching: Design and deliver engaging, high-quality English learning programs tailored to diverse learning needs across Stages 4 & 6.
• Building Learning Power: Embed pedagogical research and Building Learning Power concepts into everyday teaching sequences.
• Christian Worldview & Ethos: Actively model the Colleges vision, mission, and values, participating in staff devotions and the Christian life of the school.
• Pastoral & Co-Curricular Care: Contribute actively to the Senior School pastoral care program and lead a co-curricular activity (such as a sporting team, music ensemble, or lunchtime club).
• Collaborative Growth: Participate in annual performance reviews, engage with NESA professional standards, and work closely with the Head of Department and Senior Leadership.

Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Qualifications: A recognised teaching degree (e.g., Bachelor of Education or undergraduate degree plus post-graduate teaching qualification).
• Accreditation & Safety: Eligibility for NESA accreditation and a valid NSW paid Working With Children Check (WWCC).
• Teaching Expertise: Proven experience teaching Stage 6 Advanced English as well as Stages 4 and 5 English. Extension 1 Experience desirable
• Christian Commitment: A active commitment to the ethos of independent Christian education in the Anglican tradition and involvement in a local church community.
• Collaborative Culture: Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to contribute positively to a team.
• Standard Hours: 8:15 am to 3:45 pm (Monday to Friday).
• Staff Meetings: Tuesday afternoons until 5:00 pm.
