Job summary

Indigenous Business Growth (IBG) is recruiting for a Senior Safety Advisor to lead safety for a major rail, stabling yard and substation delivery across South East Queensland. The role covers civil, rail, electrical and commissioning risks, partnering with the head contractor on high-profile infrastructure work.

They require 8+ years of construction HSE experience, a WHS qualification, and knowledge of Queensland legislation. Relocation packages are on offer for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• 8+ years' construction HSE experience with rail, substation, high-voltage or commissioning exposure preferred.
• Diploma or degree in work health and safety or related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation and principal-contractor obligations.
• Formal incident-investigation training desirable.
• Current construction induction card and ability to obtain rail, site and medical competencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety planning for high-voltage work, energisation, isolations, arc-flash, lifting, excavation and track access.
• Review SWMS, permits, access arrangements and commissioning plans for each phase.
• Coordinate construction and electrical safety responsibilities through installation, test and energised states.
• Lead incident investigations, assurance and targeted improvement.
• Support emergency preparedness for electrical, confined-space, fire and rail scenarios.

A major transport infrastructure project (valued at more than $1 billion) is underway across South East Queensland, delivering complex rail, station and civil works. Having won numerous major projects in Queensland in the past 12 months, the head contractor is seeking a Senior Safety Advisor - Stabling Yard and Substation to provide senior safety leadership for multidisciplinary stabling-yard and substation delivery, including civil, rail, electrical and commissioning risks.
