Job summary

The Carter Engineering Group seeks a Senior Risk Specialist to uplift and embed a world-class risk framework across mining operations in Adelaide. You will lead bowtie development, run material risk workshops, and ensure critical control logic aligns with group standards and SAP integration for control execution and verification.

You will collaborate with field teams, drive governance through the Risk Audit Committee, and uplift legacy risks into a unified risk register while shaping risk

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Lead the development of a world‑class risk and critical control framework.

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Risk Specialist to play a key role in uplifting and embedding a risk management system. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys technical depth, structured facilitation, and working closely with operational teams to strengthen critical controls and improve risk discipline across mining operations.

About the role

As a Senior Risk Specialist, you'll lead bowtie development, facilitate material risk workshops, oversee critical control logic, and support SAP integration for critical control execution and verification. You'll also guide field validation activities, uplift legacy risks, and contribute to governance through the Risk Audit Committee. This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role where your technical expertise directly shapes safer, more reliable operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead facilitated workshops to identify material unwanted events.
• Develop and validate bowties, including technical, human and organisational cause mapping.
• Build preventative and mitigative control logic and support critical control selection.
• Contribute to Critical Control Performance Standards (CCPS) and field validation.
• Lead uplift and integration of legacy risks into a unified risk register.
• Support behavioural uplift, verification discipline and reporting culture.
• Provide insights to the Risk Audit Committee on trends, failures and control health.
• Contribute to maturity assessments, gap analysis and roadmap development.
• Oversee SAP CCE/CCV logic and ensure alignment with control requirements.

About you

• Strong experience in risk management, critical control management or operational governance.
• Demonstrated capability in bowtie development and facilitation.
• Deep understanding of critical control logic and effectiveness criteria.
• Experience engaging with operational and field teams.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Confidence leading workshops and influencing stakeholders across departments.
• Familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise systems (advantageous).
