Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) is seeking an experienced Senior Respiratory Scientist to lead the Respiratory Laboratory, oversee advanced lung function testing, and mentor junior staff. Qualifications

Senior Respiratory Scientist | Shape Diagnostic Excellence at SALHN

SALHN is seeking an experienced Senior Respiratory Scientist to join the Respiratory Laboratory in an ongoing, full-time capacity. You will lead the delivery of advanced lung function testing, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the quality and accreditation standards that underpin exceptional patient care.

About the role:

Reporting to the Principal Scientist, this role is responsible for providing significant input into Laboratory policy and planning and shares responsibility for ensuring that operational standards, work unit efficiency, and service quality are maintained and enhanced.

Duties for the role will include:

Managing workloads and resources to ensure an efficient and effective service at the Respiratory Function Unit of Noarlunga GP Plus Super Clinic,
Assessing and reviewing the work standards of scientific staff to ensure that relevant processes and procedures are followed appropriately,
Monitoring and maintaining equipment to ensure reliability and accuracy of testing, including recognising equipment and system issues, troubleshooting and implementing effective solutions,
The Senior Scientist is the designated Education and Training Officer for SALHN RFL,
Participating in the development and maintenance of the Quality Management System ensuring it meets national and international standards, in particular, TSANZ / NATA Respiratory Laboratory accreditation requirements

About you:

Bachelor of Applied Science or equivalent,
Certified Respiratory Function Scientist through the Australian and New Zealand Society of Respiratory Science, or equivalent,
Credentialed with Australian Council of Clinical Physiologists (ACCP),
Commitment to quality,
Professionally independent, innovative, and competent,
High level of analytical skill to identify and progress work group objectives, including recognition of problems with development of acceptable practical solutions,
Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in an accredited respiratory function lab,
Demonstrated proficiency in routine and advanced respiratory physiology and measurements,
Demonstrated expertise in teaching and education, particularly in respiratory physiology and measurements,
Experience with Quality Assurance processes including document preparation meeting accreditation standards
