Employment Type: Temporary various for a contract from 2 February 2026 to 06 February 2028. Remuneration: $89,095.00 to $120,489.00. Hours Per Week: 38. Requisition ID: CAM27180. An exciting opportunity exists to join the Emergency Department at Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District.

Where you\'ll be working

Positions available at Wollongong Hospital, Shellharbour Hospital & Shoalhaven Hospital. Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven\'s major referral and teaching hospital with a bed base of more than 500. The campus provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

Wollongong is located an hour\'s drive south of Sydney on a narrow coastal strip bordered by the Royal National Park to the north, Lake Illawarra to the south, the Tasman Sea to the east and the Illawarra Escarpment to the west. Shellharbour

Shellharbour Hospital is a 197 bed, acute facility providing a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services, including emergency services, elective surgical services, general medical, antenatal and primary family health care, satellite renal dialysis, and mental health services. Shoalhaven

The Shoalhaven area is one of the fastest growing areas of NSW. Shoalhaven Hospital is a busy rural hospital employing over 1,000 staff and is the main acute care hospital for the region, providing emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services. The hospital is undergoing redevelopment.

What you\'ll be doing

To provide emergency medical care to patients while developing experience and expertise under the supervision of Emergency Specialists within ISLHD. This is a District position and may involve working at any one of the following sites: Wollongong Hospital, Shellharbour Hospital and Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital Emergency Departments. Candidates will be asked for a working site preference at interview. The SRMO will participate in a seven-day roster which includes evening and night shifts. This position is suited to doctors seeking more experience in Emergency Medicine prior to entering specialist training.

Selection Criteria
  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Minimum two years post graduate experience.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment.
  4. Preparedness and ability to participate in after-hours overtime and standby rosters.
  5. Excellent communication skills (written and oral), time management and organisational skills.
