Job summary

Macquarie University is seeking an experienced Research Contracts Specialist to join the Research Awards team on a full-time 12-month fixed-term basis. Based at the Wallumattagal campus, North Ryde, you will manage a range of research contracts from funded grants to industry projects, ensuring compliance with university policies and external investment rules.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of contractual arrangements in research.
• Experience drafting, reviewing and critiquing research funding agreements.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Experience performing due diligence for compliance with policies and legislation.
• Tertiary qualification in law or equivalent.
• Strong IP protection, filing and commercialization knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate research, research-related, consultancy, and commercialization contracts.
• Provide contractual advice to researchers and staff.
• Manage a busy caseload of research contracts from conception to execution.
• Balance risk with pragmatic, commercially aware contract management.
• Perform due diligence with the National Security and Defence Manager on external partners.
• Liaise with funding agencies, partners and collaborators to enable best practice.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to streamline contract management.
